Thermal Evaporation Technology
Thermal evaporation is a physical vapor deposition (PVD) technique for creating thin films of various materials including copper, silver, gold, silicon dioxide, and indium tin oxide onto surfaces.
This deposition technique involves thermal heating of source material in a high-vacuum chamber (pressure < 10⁻⁵ Torr), which increases vapor pressure and forms a thin film on substrates within the chamber.
Systems typically use resistive heating of source holders in metallic boat or basket configurations made of tungsten or molybdenum wire covered by aluminum oxide.
